The Radiant Sphere have a reputation of being paragons of the light side of the force. But make no mistake, they have the means to defend themselves... and their interests. It might seem surprising that the Sphere would even requisition sabers for the assault role, but being a galactic power requires more than nice words and flowery philosophy.
The Shade is the big brother in the Spirit Class of sabers. Unlike its sisters, the Banshee and Wraith, the Shade specialty is not stealth, but mainline combat. With a heavier body and thicker 1 inch blade, the Shade can take it as well as dish it out. Champions of the Light who do battle in the name of the Sphere stress "Control" above all else, and the Shade delivers. The upper choke points offer superb handling and blade control while the deep cut grooves ensure you won't lose your grip in the heat of battle. This saber will do whatever you need it to do.
The Assault role required that the Shade be constructed with a one-inch blade socket, making it more robust than other sabers in this class. The trade-off being that the Shade has slightly more mass than other Spirit-class sabers. Even so, the Shade is still a Spirit-class, and like all sabers in this class, it is very light, slender, and handles impeccably. Those who wield this saber claim it is "a pure balance of control and aggression". Words that seem to perfectly describe the Radiant Sphere these days.
