Description:
The Juggernaut is a Crusader-class saber created to completely obliterate the enemies of House Sunrunner in righteous fury. The cruciform saber has evolved over the eons and the Juggernaut is the next step in this timeless architecture.

While still being one of the largest sabers on the battlefield, it is actually more compact than other cruciform sabers. At only 10.5 inches in length, it is over 2 inches shorter than its contemporaries. This allows the wielder to be more precise and agile in their strikes. This may seem at odds for a saber named "The Juggernaut", but every warrior knows that strength and dexterity are two sides of the same coin.

The cruciform emitter of the Juggernaut is a triple crown design which is just as functional as it is formidable. With three energy beams, heat buildup is a real concern in any cruciform saber. Therefore, the crossguard not only provides protection for the hands, but also dissipates heat away from the beam emitters and focusing lenses. The result is a weapon that can stay in the fight as long as you can.

The saber also comes with an armor sleeve which increases durability, but also adds girth to the saber for better grip. However, this armor can be easily removed if a more slender profile is preferred. The underlying body of the saber features polished rings befitting the status of the Knight who wields it.

Knights of House Sunrunner were the officers and commanders of all combat units in the Tannius System. These force sensitive warriors do not lead from the rear, but are always in the vanguard. The sight of their glowing blades of light are a beacon of inspiration to their troops and a symbol of hope. Like any symbol, it is most effective when seen, and so the Sunrunner Knights always fight alongside their soldiers. Lesser men and women would never survive such leadership tactics, but as they say, "Knights are made of sterner stuff." The favored weapon of these Knights are, of course, lightsabers, and one in particular, the Juggernaut.

Traditionally, Knights were peacekeepers, not soldiers, and thus preferred understated equipment that was more suited for a civilian role. When the bugs invaded their world, the Knights on the ground knew they needed vehicles, armor, and weapons specifically built to fight waves of enemies. Knights once clad in traditional robes and traveling by speeder were donning armor and boarding drop ships. A new saber was also needed, one that could survive the rigors of battle, offered more protection for the wielder, but not so massive that it would require years of training to master. This design principle resulted in the genesis of the Juggernaut and it was quickly adopted by Central Command.

Soon, the forces of House Sunrunner were shooting from the sky in their one-man capsules, busting through the ground to penetrate directly into bug nests and coming face to face with hordes of arthropods taller than a man. Their mission was to fight through the swarms to eliminate the Queen hidden deep beneath the planet's crust., thus exterminating the entire hive. The Juggernaut wielding Knights led their platoons through the winding labyrinth of tunnels. Their shouts of "Follow me!" rang through the burrows while their glowing blades brought light to the darkness like a torch in the night.
Systematically the Sunrunner Knights eliminated each and every hive from their world, and today, the populace is hard at work rebuilding. From a distance, Tannius Prime, the planetary home of House Sunrunner, appears to be an unspoiled blue gem. The surface, however, tells the story of a planet recovering from a war that ended just one generation before. The environmental restoration efforts since that time have been nothing short of extraordinary, turning a cratered, battle marked countryside back into a Ryzian paradise in less than 20 years. With weather control systems, terraforming drones, and seismic dampers in constant use, one could be forgiven for forgetting that this world was once the center point of the "Bug War", a devastating campaign to rid the planet of the invasive alien species known only as "The Bugs".

One lone island in the southern hemisphere of Tannius Prime remains untouched by the restoration project. A blasted wasteland, the island of Raktyvarius now serves as a monument to those who gave their lives defending Tannius. A towering cenotaph stands proudly in the center of the island storing every record of the brave men and women who served in the conflict so that their sacrifice will be remembered for all time.

There are hundreds of thousands of records in the cenotaph's holocrons, each detailing the story of a unique soul who fought and gave everything in defense of their world. They came from all over the star system to answer the warrior's call. They had different names, families, beliefs, and cultures, but they all served under the banners of House Sunrunner and we shall never see their like again.



Now that peace is once again the order of the day, Knights have gone back to their robes and speeders. The Bug War has been a distant memory for many years so most Knights have resumed their peacekeeping duties. These days Juggernaut sabers are seldom seen on the streets of Tannius, but they will always have an honored place in history and are highly sought after by collectors.
